Daffodil Wedding Bouquet

Wedding flowers?? HELP? | Weding Blog

I am getting married in Summer 2012 in Memphis TN. Our wedding is going to be “southern themed”, with our colors as orange and yellow. I would like to use dafodils into my decorations but I do not know what other flowers to use. Any other cool decoration ideas and/or pictures would be nice too!!

Daffodils are going to be hard to find and use as they do not keep well, Consider a very good silk daffodil mixed with other live blooms and no one will ever know. Oranges are o.k. many asiatic lillies which resemble the ever multiplying day lillies. Add some of the bread and butter or hen and chick daffodils which have a more of an orange center with yellow leaves. Southern to means magnolias which if done right could be added to the other flowers. Forsythia, a long stemish small yellow flower blooms in the spring, hyacinths and tulips. Summer flowers are the roses and most lillies, carnations. Hydrangeas, the not fully opened ones that are white with a bit of lime green around the edges add a southern feel to bouquets. Think azalea’s also, check with florist as to availability and use in bouquets. Gerbera daisies and regular daisies to me are also reminders of southern charm. I guess mostly rose gardens remind me of summer in the south and crepe myrtles, which you would have to check with florist as to availability. Consider friends with blooming c. myrtles, hydrangeas, roses for real live flowers for florist to cut fresh and use in bouquets. Southern themed to me means two different ways—the old world, lace, roses, tea cups, wide brimmed hats with candy box ribbons, gloves and parasols.Glazed ham/pulled pork, spiced apple rings, candied yams with potato salad and assorted pickle/relish trays. Potted azaleas and palms for decorations. Or a more southern country—iced tea and lemonade in gallon jugs, mason jars with arrangements of different flowers/wheat stalks or curly willow tied with blue or yellow gingham,twine or burlap strips, gingham or calico table throws, rows of twine with seating arrangements pinned on with wooden clothespins, bales of hay covered with quilts, bar b q or cook outs. Beer and soft drinks on ice in large tubs. Sunflowers and natural branches for decorations. Check this site http://www.save-on-crafts.com has many items, plus all types natural stems, curly willow, branches, etc. Also, as you are in Memphis consider rhododendrons and magnolia leaves in bouquets. Beautiful greenery. Peonies to me represent southern lady gardeners. Check with florist as to availability of flowers. Spring blooming plum, apple, cherry and pear trees will be gone, consider an avenue of crepe myrtles or the small potted crepe myrtles/azaleas and hydrangeas as decorations. White c. m., blue h and azaleas in any of the pinks or corals will blend well with the yellow of daffodils. Google southern weddings for many ideas. Lots to choose from. There is a poem by William Wordsworth, Daffodils, google for words, would be a beautiful reading during ceremony or reception. Consider silk garlands of daffodils, hyacinths, tulips for decorations. Have lace parasols hanging upside down from ceiling with the above flowers spilling over sides for a dramatic effect. Drape two alternating colors of tulle and gather up in center of reception room or gather at various points with either parasols or white wicker lamps or chandeliers.
