Punch band members deserve a big thanks
-->A big thank-you to Punch. The band played at Lions Square on Sunday night and generously donated their fee back. Dave Petrone said that the band members believe in the Chamber, Lions Club and Downtown Connellsville and what they're doing to bring back Connellsville in these tough times. So when you see Dave, Bucky Gallentine, Ed Robbins or Greg Hankle, thank them on behalf of our community. These guys are a class act, in more ways than one, and we're never really sure if they'll play together again.
Reflecting on the ceremony held Saturday at the Readiness Center, Tom McFadden, Connellsville Veterans Commission secretary said, "At this time, we have men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan serving our country by helping other countries rid themselves of those who would destabilize their countries. We still have men and women missing from previous wars, World War II and Korea, many served in the Cold War and are forgotten. In Pennsylvania, we have 94 personnel still missing from the Vietnam War.All these gave their time and their lives to ensure that we and others around the world can live in a world where we have freedom of choice. Today, only about 1 percent of our countrymen and women serving in the Armed Forces, the other 99 percent seem to forget that our servicemen and women have done for them and what they continue to today ' hui. We must never forget what they did for us. "
