Chevy Silverado runs deep in Texas
The 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 light duty truck line runs both deep and broad. The Silverado offers a tremendous array of configurations and build combinations that can more than satisfy the work user, the mixed work and casual user or the urban/suburban more gentrified user who chooses to drive a pickup truck. Making a selection can be daunting, but whatever configuration you choose, your Chevy Silverado will deliver.
This past week, we have been driving a 2012 Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab LT Texas Edition in a rich Victory Red.
Fully one in five pickup trucks sold in the US are sold in Texas. To attract and keep market share in the very important Texas market, manufacturers offer special Texas packages of options to tailor the truck to the Texas consumer.
In Texas, about half of the pickup trucks sold are for mixed use and or urban/suburban use. Crew cabs and extended cabs are popular in this area for taking family and others to the job, to school or to entertainment/recreational events with carry capacity as needed in the open truck bed.
We already know the work attributes and capability of the Silverado from past drive tests, so we focused instead on the mixed use/ recreational events during our drive. This Texas Edition Silverado is ideally suited for Texas Hill Country almost any use.
For the test, we took friends out all day looking for a new home in Hill Country including a tour of the area with lunch at the Salt Lick Barbecue in Driftwood, Texas. On another day we took a photo op trip to the Solaro Estate Winery in Dripping Springs. In between, we did the hardware store, grocery store and movie at the mall stuff.
This Texas Edition Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab LT handled these trips with style, a comfortable ride and good performance.
The basic Silverado 1500 LT is sticker priced at $35,545. It includes the 4.8L V8 with 4-speed automatic transmission, 17 inch wheels and tires, Z85 handling and trailering suspension, dual stage driver and right passenger air bags, head curtain side airbags with rollover protection and sided impact airbags driver and right side. Included also are stabilitrak stability control with trailer sway and hill start assist. Other features are leather wrapped steering wheel, satellite radio, air conditioning, power locks, tilt steering and cruise control.
